DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE
Introduction
The Department of Finance aims at providing insights into the subjects of Accounting and Finance specialisation. The Department of Finance provides specialized education and training in the area of Finance.  The Department is committed to cater to the needs of modern business world and will train the students with complete skill sets to build better carrier in finance. Further the department conducts career counseling for finance students and also provides industry insights by inviting the experts from the industry.

Develop the required knowledge and skills for achieving excellence in the field of Accounting and Finance.

Mission

  • To be student centric by responding to their needs in various subjects related to finance stream.
  • To provide a platform for the students to develop the required skills in Finance and Accounting through value added courses.

Objectives

  • To equip the students with industry skill set requirements through continuous training.
  • To design and offer programmes for executives and professionals.
  • To purse continuous research in the field of finance and accounting.
  • To contribute for the institutional branding and development.

The Finance Department manages “Centre for Excellence in Financial Studies” which conducts value added programmes to enhance knowledge of the students according to the requirements of the corporate. To deliver the content, the resource persons are invited from the industry and academics. The department also provides all the support for research and publication by the faculty members as well as the students. The department organizes on regular basis, the Faculty Development Programmes, seminars and workshops for the faculty members to enhance their skills and equip them with updated knowledge. On regular basis, the department also conducts various programmes for the development of the students which includes Seminars, Workshops, guest lectures and interclass competitions.

Expert Meet
The Department of Finance, RVIM, had organised an Expert meet on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 at 11.30am on the topic “E-Banking and E- Finance”. The resource person is Sri. V C Joshi, Consultant – Banking and Finance, Pune. Nearly 20 experts in the field of finance had attended the meet and shared their opinion on E-Banking and E-Finance.

Expert Talk for the Faculty Members

  • A Special lecture was organized by the Department of Finance, RVIM on November 27, 2017 on the topic “Factors Shaping Financial Institutions” for the Faculty members of our institute. The session was engaged by Sri. V C Joshi, Consultant – Banking and Finance, Pune.
  • A Special lecture was organized by the Department of Finance, RVIM on November 27, 2017 on the topic “E-Banking and E-Finance” for the Faculty members of our institute. The session was engaged by Sri. V C Joshi, Consultant – Banking and Finance, Pune.

Seminar for the Students

Certificate Course for the -Students
A Certificate Course on Capital Market (Dealers) module (CMDM) is offered to III semester Finance specialization students. The duration of the Course is 25 Hours and the course is delivered by the resource persons of Fin Arch. After successful completion of the course, the certificate will be issued by the Inarch. A certificate will also be issued by NSE Academy Certification in Financial Markets after successfully completing the online examination conducted by NSE India.

Guest Lectures for the Students

  • A guest lecture was organized by the Department of Finance, RVIM on September 25, 2017 on the topic “Investment Avenues”. The lecture was organized to enlighten students about the basics of Investments and Investment avenues. The session was engaged by Ms. Dhwani Shah, Co-founder and Managing Director, Fin Arch Institute, Bangalore.
  • A Special lecture was organized by the Department of Finance, RVIM on November 27, 2017 on the topic “Important Factor Shaping Financial Institutions” for the III Semester Finance Specialization students. The session was engaged by Sri. V C Joshi, Consultant – Banking and Finance, Pune.
  • A Special lecture was organized by the Department of Finance, RVIM on November 28, 2017 on the topic “E-Banking & E-Finance” for the III Semester Finance Specialisation students. The session was engaged by Sri. V C Joshi, Consultant – Banking and Finance, Pune.

Future Plans

  • Joint research on finance topics by faculty and students is planned.
  • To bridge the gap between the industry and curriculum, the department is planning to organise a career development programme for Finance specialisation students where they get inputs on Finance aptitude and career development.
  • Collaboration with professional bodies to offer courses on finance.
